STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Get ready for thousands of deals and discounts, as Amazon’s most anticipated shopping event, Prime Day, will soon take place.
Over the last few years, Amazon has launched Prime Day for its members — typically in mid-July — to shop new deals and get free shipping. Last year’s shopping event was delayed to October due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
In its first-quarter results call, Amazon announced that Prime Day will “take place later in the second quarter” of 2021, which means we’ll likely see Prime Day occur in June.
However, Amazon hasn’t yet confirmed when Prime Day will take place, and dates haven’t yet been announced.
But Amazon is getting ready because its Prime Day page reads, “Prime Day is coming,”
During the 48-hour event, members can shop over 1 million deals and top products, including toys, televisions, electronics, fashion, beauty, kitchen, home and Amazon devices.
Prime members pay an annual membership rate of $119 per year, or $12.99 per month. Prime student members pay $59 per year, or $6.49 per month. Anyone can join Prime or start a 30-day free trial at amazon.com/primeday to participate in Prime Day.
While we don’t know the exact dates of when Prime Day will occur, we can guess some of the items that will be discounted — such as Amazon devices like the smart speaker Echo Dot, Fire TV stick and FireTV televisions. Last year’s sale also saw discounts on video game titles, cameras and clothing.
Kristin McGrath, shopping expert at Offers.com, predicted other items, like the Roomba vacuum, air fryers, Instant Pot pressure cookers, the Apple Watch, Apple Airpods, DNA-testing kits and toys like Barbie and Hot Wheels, will be heavily discounted.
Amazon is also known for offering discounts on Audible, Amazon Music Unlimited, Prime Video channels and more. In the past, it has also offered discounts to new Amazon Fresh users. So if you’ve been wanting to try any of those services, Prime Day is a good time to do so for less.
And it’s never too early to start preparing for what you are planning to purchase. Here are some tips for shopping Prime Day.
