We miss the heyday of megamixes, when pop stars stuffed all their tracks into one single. We’re talking Technotronic, Inner City, Betty Boo, Girls Aloud… The Streets haven’t gone quite that far and brought the megamix back, but they are taking a step in that direction by mashing up pairs of their old hits, commissioned by Amazon Music.
The mixes, recorded at Metropolis Studios in London, are ‘Fit But You Know It’ / ‘Take Me As I Am’ and ‘Has it come to This’ and ‘I Wish You Loved You’, with audio versions exclusive to Amazon Music. Audio versions? Yes, because videos of the two recordings have also been published on YouTube through The Streets’ own channel. A little less exclusive, then, but that means the videos can double as marketing content for Amazon Music.
