What TV exhibits are you watching today? I’m very into this new romantic comedy…

Survival of the Thickest. Have you ever seen it? Right here’s the trailer, above.

Based mostly on comic Michelle Buteau’s guide of essays, the Netflix sequence follows Mavis Beaumont, a plus-sized Black lady, as she breaks up together with her boyfriend and tries to construct her model as a struggling stylist. “I’m gonna preserve it shifting and preserve my vegetation watered,” she tells her buddies.

There’s a steamy love affair (“I really feel like an Amish teenager throughout Rumspringa,” says Mavis)…

…and GREAT fashion inspiration. Mavis places collectively very cute outfits, together with this two-toned shirt, which I stalked the web for however I feel is bought out? (This brown one and striped one are cool, too.)

Mavis is charming and humorous, and I like that her physique is talked about nearly completely in optimistic methods. “Plus-size girls are all the time being advised to shrink,” says Mavis. “So, I simply actually wished to take stunning kings and queens and nonbinary royalty and showcase them in stunning shiny, daring colours within the mild.”

Ideas? Have you ever seen it? What else are you watching (or studying or listening to) today?

P.S. Michelle Buteau’s magnificence uniform, and Ashley Ford on weighing greater than her boyfriend.
