South Street Bar in Morristown underwent a huge transformation and on April 15 will reopen with the new name FOMO.
Majority owner Gardner Lonsberry said he wanted to give the bar a more modern, elevated feel — something similar to what you’d find in Jersey City or Hoboken. So, he closed the bar for four weeks and got “as much done as possible,” he said to transform the space.
Local artists, including a graffiti artist, have covered the space in murals. Quotes from rappers and rock band lyrics are scribbled on doors. Walls with interactive photo ops, perfect for taking Instagram pictures have been set up. And when FOMO (which stands for fear of missing out) opens, expect Cryo Jets that cool off the dance floor and big confetti cannons.
“We wanted to elevate the bar experience,” said Lonsberry. “Modernize it and make it something different.”

Lonsberry also plans to bring in entertainers — from bands to showgirls — to make FOMO more of a destination than your average bar.
“You can get a Jack and Coke and watch the NBA finals anywhere,” said Lonsberry. “We want to refocus.”
Brand new food and cocktail menus have also been created. More unique, mixology-based cocktails will be served. And for eats, FOMO will start by serving Asian street food like rice bowls with pork belly. Standards like burgers and quesadillas will also be available, but Lonsberry hopes to continually expand the bar’s culinary options.
“We might do a world tour of food,” he said. “I hope to keep all of the best recipes and have a menu full of street food from around the world.”
Lonsberry hopes Morristown bars continue to grow and innovate to attract more nightlife-goers to the town.
“I want Morristown to become a destination spot.”
FOMO is located at 13 South St., Morristown; 973-267-1575, no website.
