Even after the delicious deals of Prime Day are gone, however, there’s plenty to love about a Prime membership.
What is Amazon Prime?
Amazon Prime is the online shopping giant’s wildly popular subscription service, which offers multiple benefits to its members. Even post-Prime Day, you’ll get special discounts in addition to the regular savings you’ll see on products. The Amazon smart plug, for instance, is one of the best smart plugs we’ve tried for its flawless performance once connected and its simple Alexa capabilities—and it’s $10 off its list price of $24.99 for Prime members only.
Beyond these savings, Prime members will get free two-day shipping on certain items, free same-day delivery in eligible zip codes, free release-date delivery on eligible preorder items and free no-rush shipping with members rewards on future buys. On top of those shipping benefits, they’ll also have access to free music, books, movies and TV through Amazon’s various Prime channels.
How much is Amazon Prime?
After your free trial expires, a membership to Prime will cost you $12.99 a month, adding up to an annual bill of $155.88. However, Prime members can cancel their subscription at any time.
Those enrolled in qualifying government assistance programs, including supplemental security income (SIS), the supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) or the low income home energy assistance program (LIHEAP), can join Prime for even less, with a 50% off signup at $5.99 a month.
If you or a loved one is in college, there’s Prime Student, which is offering a free six-month trial (stick with it for just $6.49 per month after the trial ends) for free delivery, access to Showtime and Amazon Music Unlimited for $.99 each (note that Showtime access renews after the trial at $10.99 a month).
Though Prime Day is the big event on the horizon, it’s hard to beat the offerings Prime has for the other 363 days in the year. Whether you’re shopping for goods or streaming for fun, Amazon Prime has more than you could ask for.
