One of the world’s most famous rappers went shopping at the Governor’s Square Mall Monday afternoon.
Future, who was accompanied by local rapper Real Boston Richey, went to two sneaker stores, Copped and Finish Line, to buy shoes for children who live at the Holton Street Apartments – the site of a future music video for the rappers.
Real Boston Richey posted on Instagram around 4:45 p.m. to: “Meet us at the mall we headed up there right now.”
“Me and Pluto Pulling up to governor Square Mall Right Now LETS GO,” the next post said.
Pluto is another alias for the rapper Future, whose 2012 debut album was named “Pluto,” as well. He recently was hailed as one of the top achieving gold and platinum rappers of all time.
The mall was packed with people, said Tay Alexander, an employee at Journey’s Kids. It was like Black Friday, but instead of families, it was crowded with teens.
Alexander said Finish Line closed its security gate to let Future shop in peace while crowds gathered outside.
Future, who is known as one of the most influential trap artists in hip hop with 21.2 million fans on Instagram, won a Grammy for best hip hop performance in 2019 for the song “King’s Dead.”
Real Boston Richey is filming a music video this afternoon in the College Terrace neighborhood near FAMU.
The Tallahassee rapper is a novice to hip hop but has already landed a verse on Lil Durk’s track “Keep Dissing 2,” which has more than 11 million views on YouTube.
