Amazon has published its latest annual report, and it includes some big new numbers from the company’s business. “We have more than 200 million Prime members worldwide,” wrote outgoing CEO Jeff Bezos in his letter to shareholders. That is up from more than 150 million at the end of 2019.
The Prime service is, of course, one of the ways Amazon brings people into its music streaming funnel, with the limited-catalogue Prime Music service. Alas, the report did not offer any new stats on how Amazon Music is doing: its last big announcement came in January 2020 when it said it had more than 55 million users, with “nearly all” of them paying for a subscription (Prime being one of the options).
Reports from Counterpoint Research and Midia Research last year both suggested that Amazon Music was growing its share of the global music streaming market.
